New York BANS Gas Cars by 2035 — Only Electric or Hydrogen Allowed!

NEW YORK IS PULLING THE PLUG ON GAS CARS!
In a bold move to fight climate change, New York just mandated ALL new passenger vehicles be zero-emission by 2035 — following California’s lead.

That means no more gas-powered cars, pickups, or SUVs sold in the state starting 2035.

 Here's the roadmap:

  • 35% of new car sales must be zero-emission by 2026

  • 68% by 2030

  • 100% by 2035

Even school buses must go green:

  • New models = zero-emission by 2027

  • All fleets = zero-emission by 2035

The state is making EVs easier to own:

  • Up to $2,000 rebate per electric vehicle via the Drive Clean Rebate Program

  • Add a $7,500 federal tax credit, and EVs just got a LOT more affordable

Plus, EV charging is expanding fast:

  • 100+ high-speed chargers already installed

  • $250 million committed through 2025 via EVolve NY

  • Another $175 million coming from the federal infrastructure bill

“This sends a loud and clear message to carmakers: New Yorkers want EVs,” said Leah Meredith of Advanced Energy Economy.

  • Gasoline’s days are numbered. New York is going full throttle toward a cleaner future. Ready or not, the EV revolution is here.
